Astor Atlas Andén has arrived! A beautiful boy who I am utterly in love with… The wonderful reason this blog ever happened is now in the world, but this does not mean the end of MaternallyChic – quite the opposite! I have a number of images that were taken whilst I was still pregnant that I will continue to upload, along with new children’s products that I will review and of course I certainly wouldn’t give up my pampering treatments, so more recommendations of the chicest spas and best beauty products. In the coming months I shall be styling and photographing fabulous pregnant girls wearing the same designers that I wore throughout my pregnancy, thus meaning the continuation of the main reason MaternallyChic was brought to life almost 6 months ago. Thank you for your continued support and the wonderful comments/emails, I am very much looking forward to the next stage of MaternallyChic! When considering everything that one needs to purchase in preparation for a new baby – especially the first – my main focus has certainly been which stroller I would choose for my newborn son.
With so many to choose from, be they of sleek or traditional design, there is so much more to research than simply the appearance (although in the case of myself and fellow fashion industry friends of mine, appearance is of course still a high priority!)
I visited countless stores, spoke to anyone whose opinion I trusted and tested numerous strollers before deciding, as had been my initial choice many months ago, on the Bugaboo.
I live in Notting Hill, the centre of the yummy mummies, so of course had seen every chic parent pushing various shapes and sizes of these baby carriers, although until relatively recently had no idea which company they were, just that on a typical day I would see the distinctive logo pass me on average 30 times!
With three main designs – the ever-popular Chameleon, the ultimate in design Donkey and the cannot-be-touched for city living Bee – Bugaboo has taken into consideration every type of parent and every need of the child.
Various colourways, countless accessories and collaborations with designers such as Marc Jacobs, Missoni and Viktor & Rolf make this the unrivaled brand for chic, fashion conscious parents who also want to ensure that the body of each design has the ultimate support for their child.
Indulging myself by adding another pair of my treasured Balenciaga leather leggings to my collection, but in a larger size of course, has proven to be a worthy investment – the fact that they are making me feel like ‘myself’ at a time where I feel anything but is nothing short of a miracle!
This divine Yves Saint Laurent leopard fur coat can finally have its debut due to the increasing drop in temperature in London, something I can only welcome due to the heat generated from being in the late stages of pregnancy!

As a fashion editor with very particular tastes, I found the available relevant reading material as a newly expectant mother incredibly limited, to say the least. From the hundreds of maternity websites, there were very few that I could relate to, until I was introduced to one particular website that tapped into every subject that interested me in the new world that I was soon to be a part of.
ElizabethStreet.com provides content that is not far removed from the magazines I subscribe to each month, an online ‘mother-directed Vanity Fair’ if you will. With like-minded mothers sharing their daily style to the latest discoveries and global city directory of the best places to eat, shop and stay, this truly is one destination where the chicest mothers can be inspired in every area of motherhood.

With email, social media and texting, the art of communication has become so immediate and somewhat impersonal that I knew early on in my pregnancy that I wished to announce the birth of my beautiful baby in a more traditional manner.
It was decided that birth announcement cards would be the most perfect way of informing our most treasured family and friends of the arrival of our son, whom we named Astor, into the world.
There are a number of companies that were discussed for the announcement cards and various factors were taken into consideration when deciding just who we would choose to produce such cards; a company rich in tradition, a company that had the personal touch and of course the all important factor of just who would present us with the highest quality product.
After much research, it was quite obvious that PRANTL would be the company that would be able to deliver on all of the above and we certainly were not disappointed when the delivery of announcement cards arrived in the most exquisite packaging. The cards themselves could not have been more precise to the brief that was given and in fact, they far exceeded any expectations.
PRANTL not only design birth announcement cards, but produce every type of stationery possible, including wedding stationery, event stationery and all business and personal requirements.
I could not recommend PRANTL highly enough.
Writing this from the perspective of a new mother, unless you are in the 1% of exceptionally fortunate people, you will be feeling a little less than your spectacular self in the first months following the arrival of your new addition.
Cosmetic surgery is eventually an option for some, but although wrinkles have appeared as the result of natural aging as I am now in my mid-thirties, I would prefer to find a product that could give me the anti-aging results as opposed to resorting to a needle!
I have returned to PerriconeMD throughout the years when needing assistance from a true professional and now is certainly one of those times. With lack of sleep and a somewhat exhausting schedule that comes with having a new baby, my skin is not as radiant as I would like and so I set about researching which brand would give me the results I needed at this stage in my life.
With many products tested and the aforementioned lack of sleep taken into consideration, the product that gave the greatest and most obvious results was by far the newly launched Formula 15.
PerriconeMD Formula 15 is a concentrated, professional-grade formulation of the original Face Firming Activator and having been fortunate enough to have used the product, the results have left my complexion looking far more energized, smoothed and with an obvious reduction in the depth of lines and wrinkles than before my beautiful baby arrived – something I consider to be an absolute miracle!
There is a whole world of beautiful baby products out there that I certainly would not have discovered had I not have had my own adorable baby.
Previously, any friend to give birth would receive a pampering package as a gift as I was a firm believer (and to some extent still am) that any new mother needs to be treated to some well deserved R&R, even if that time is rather limited! However, my eyes have been opened…
If you are looking to conceal baby products that perhaps do not fit with your chic appearance – i.e. nappies, baby creams and wipes – then one of the most exquisite baby bag ranges available is by Anya Hindmarch.
The collection is limited to just a few styles, but the cases and bags that cater for all newborn needs are truly divine in their sleek tones and would blend well with any fashion conscious mothers daily attire.
Wanting to decorate my newborn son’s room in traditional fabrics and furniture without it appearing too old fashioned, I set about researching outfitters that fitted my brief.
Having found a number of wonderful places, the one that I returned to again and again was Chelsea’s ‘The Nursery Window’.
The collections just had the edge on other designers, not to mention I loved being in the adorable store that, although modern, felt like I had stepped back in time.
The divine collections are available at the Walton Street store and also online.
Another day of London Fashion Week shows and running around London would have been impossible if it were not for my blessed car – at this time I cannot thank the sponsors enough!

With London Fashion Week upon us, my looks this week will have to be even more considered than usual. Having not attended New York Fashion Week last week, a first in many years, this will be my only city for the shows this season, so I shall have to make the most of my time. Thankfully I will have a driver for the week, so wearing heels will be just about bearable for the days I am out attending shows!
