BABY JOGGER CITY MINI GT – THE ULTIMATE STROLLER FOR POST BABY WORKOUTS (AND EVERY OTHER OCCASION…)

baby-jogger-city-mini-gt-single-95260-249951548599995

To follow on from the gushing post on my HarpersBazaar.co.uk blog yesterday, I wanted to elaborate on the reasons why I chose to feature the amazing Baby Jogger City Mini GT as my ultimate stroller.

For me and so many other new mom’s, finding a moment in the day to exercise can prove impossible. I have wanted on so many occasions to head to the gym when my fiance returned from work to look after our 6 month old son, but post 6pm I am utterly exhausted! And so the loop went around and around; exhaustion, sugar cravings, lack of sleep, exhaustion, sugar cravings, you know the drill…

I recently snapped and knew I had to find a way to incorporate exercise into my day. Running or light jogging (depending on my energy levels and how well my son had slept the previous night) was always going to be the best option and for this I needed the best stroller possible.

Having trialed many strollers, even ones that were not strictly designed for running, the one that surpassed all others for maneuverability, comfort for my son and style (for me!) was the Baby Jogger City Mini GT.

Lightweight with a design that allows for everyday use as well as exercise (an absolute must considering I plan to use this stroller for baby number two also), both myself and my son settled into this stroller immediately.

With 5 straight days of running outdoors already behind me, this stylish, exceptionally well designed piece of equipment looks set to be the miracle purchase I have been looking for to finally shift those last couple of stubborn post-baby kilos!

OUTDOOR FITNESS REGIME – THE PERFECT STROLLER, SHOES & CLOTHING FOR A NEW MOM

Pippa.Nike.LucasHugh.Jogger

It hasn’t reached the point where we can declare a winter thaw (far from it), but my trainer Tim Weeks has given me the green light to return to my lengthy running sessions following an operation and my enthusiasm for all things ‘outdoors’ is gaining pace. As a first step, I have spent considerable time selecting the best products for my new open air fitness regime.

The first stage was to start with the most advanced trainers that would not only provide the greatest support, but would also look sleek and stylish when pounding the streets in my neighbourhood. Having trialed various brands, Nike’s latest shoe, the Flyknit Lunar1+, surpassed all others for comfort, performance and style. As an addition, another Nike product was to prove invaluable in pushing me to perform, the Nike+ FuelBand. Designed to monitor just how many movements you make in a day, you set the level to which you choose to push yourself.

With an outside fitness regime an exciting prospect, there was the matter of my 6 month old baby to consider. In my case, discovering just which stroller would fit my requirements of a sleek appearance, easy maneuverability, comfort for my son and a chassis more than happy to be jolted over rocks and muddy terrain (yes, you do find these obstacles in Hyde Park!) was to be the most important part of the kit on my list. The stroller far exceeding any others when considering the above was the Baby Jogger City Mini GT – in chic black of course.

Clothing next and Lucas Hugh was a label I had heard so much about, but had never worn personally. Possibly the first ‘true’ high fashion sportswear label I have encountered, along with the designs being extremely considered, there is the added plus side of the clothing being comfortable and supportive in all the right places. Running through the streets where I live does have one downside; seeing friends and neighbours (and very often fellow industry people due to the ‘media’ aspect of my neighbourhood) while working out does mean I have to consider what I am wearing; fortunately Lucas Hugh has proven to be a very answer to this problem.

TANE ORGANICS – THE PERFECT WEEKEND ATTIRE

TANE

With Astor joining me for so many industry meetings, fashion events (before his bedtime of course) and not to mention his all-important play dates, I have to admit to finding it more exciting buying him new outfits these days than selecting looks of my own.

With his weekday attire being chic, comfortable and considered, I was looking for the perfect weekend clothing label for my little man, where it was an altogether more relaxed affair, but still with a subtle design edge.

Introduced to TANE Organics by the ever-stylish Julia Restoin Roitfeld (who dresses her daughter so beautifully), I knew I had found the label I was looking for.

Luxurious organic baby/infant range with the most gorgeous designs, the clothing is timeless and so well made that the pieces will see you through mutiple children, or serve as very well-received hand-me-downs. Certainly my favourite part of the online shopping experience is choosing the pre-styled (perfectly named!) outfits in their ‘seasonal looks’ section of the website…

SMYTHSON EXQUISITE BABY BOOK

SMYTHSON

Understated and chic, the Smythson baby book was without question the only book that was to record my son’s milestones. In years to come, this timeless, leather-bound journal of the most important stages in any baby’s life will still look classic and elegant, certainly something to consider for a book that will be passed through generations…

UNSEEN FROM THE ARCHIVES – RODARTE – BALENCIAGA – YSL – THE ROW

pv.look.rodarte

I was at my most daring when selecting my daily outfits at six months pregnant and looking back at this image, I am amazed at just how adventurous I was!

A Rodarte aviator jacket, Balenciaga leather leggings and a loose fitting The Row t-shirt made up this look – I can only hope I will be wearing such looks when the time comes to introduce baby number two to the world…

UNSEEN FROM THE ARCHIVES – VALENTINO, YSL, NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD

pv.look.valentino

I cannot remember anything making me feel as wonderful as this Valentino dress when I was all but over being pregnant. With extreme lethargy and an endless shoot schedule at Harper’s Bazaar during that week (I was 34 weeks pregnant when the image was taken), donning a bold white frock when all I wanted to do was hide under my duvet proved to be the perfect answer in lifting my spirits…

CASHMIRINO LUXURIOUS CHILDREN'S CLOTHING

cash.1

There are of course many luxury children’s brands available, but with vast experience of the children’s market (not only am I a mother who dresses her child in only the finest clothing, but I have found myself consulting for children’s brands and designer department stores in the past year), sometimes I am pleasantly surprised to be introduced to a brand that has set its bar higher than most others…this is the case with Cashmirino.

Founded in 2000 by taste-maker Maria Busquets, the Cashmirino HQ is in Milan, where the most exquisite clothing, linens and cotton designs are conceptualised; the dedication and passion for the brand is shown in their unquestionably high craftsmanship and the fact that their range is available in so many varying colours.

Maria perfectly sums up just why Cashmirino is quite obviously a brand that has thought deeply about the comfort of children, while creating only the highest quality collections:

“Children are the main inspiration for Cashmirino and the biggest expression of love is a child. That’s why Cashmirino puts all of its love into all of the processes involved in creating the most loving collection for children.”

Cashmirino has stores in Rome and Milan. The full collection is available to purchase online WWW.CASHMIRINO.COM
