MINI A TURE – FALKE

astor.falke

With Astor being ever more mobile, I wanted to find an item of clothing that would allow for comfort and practicality, while remaining cute and chic of course. Upon discovering Falke’s ‘crawling tights’, with cushioned soles and made from a substantial and super cosy knitted fabric, there couldn’t have been a more perfect option.

Mini A Ture is a sweet clothing label that has the obvious Scandinavian influence (the brand is Danish) while the fabrics of their baby clothes (Astor is 6 months, so I can only speak for the adorable tiny pieces right now) seem altogether more Italian in their luxurious feel. A label that Astor will certainly be seeing more of in his closets…

UNSEEN FROM THE ARCHIVES – RICK OWENS – BALENCIAGA – ALAIA

pv.look.rick.owens.coat

I could not have relied on Rick Owens more throughout my pregnancy – possibly the only designer (with the exception of a little Donna Karan) that I could wear for the full 9 months in the size I would have bought pre-pregnancy.

This Rick Owens coat is the perfect example of everything I set out to achieve with MaternallyChic.com; showing you could wear designer clothing throughout your pregnancy without having to succumb to the over-sized sweaters and jersey dresses that soon-to-be mothers feel is their only choice when expecting a child.

SELEXIR 'PEACE BALM'

Selexir_29Nov12_GL

When meeting Elena, the founder of Selexir, not only was her skin radiant, but her energy and passion when speaking of the product she created was infectious. I seldom meet people whose stories truly touch and inspire me, but this gorgeous lady with beautiful skin was one of them.

Elena suffered with severe, almost disfiguring exzema on her face for many years and tried every possible lotion, extract and ‘miracle’ cream in an attempt to clear a skin condition that left her confidence unacceptably low, but to no avail.

Elena fought to find whatever extracts and ingredients made even the slightest improvement to her skin and with years of scientific research and trials, the ‘miracle’ cream she had hoped to find for so many years was born from her own creation. In 2012, the SELEXIR Peace Balm was launched.

I have used the Peace Balm on both myself and my six month old son and can truly say that the results are rapid, soothing and most of all extremely effective.

Words from the Selexir experts…

SELEXIR Peace Balm is an intensive salve that specifically soothes distressed, irritated and sensitive skin, as well as light to medium eczema. Its dermatologically proven formula provides deep skin relief from dryness, redness, itchiness, and discomfort by providing deep rehydration with a strong soothing effect.

The Peace Balm is neither a body lotion nor a typical face cream. With its ultra-rich formula bursting with 21 highly concentrated natural ingredients, it was formulated to care and soothe dry, scaly, irritated or red skin patches (such as elbows, knees, neck, hands or cracked heels). Due to its high concentration of moisture-locking occlusive agents, skin-softening emollients and humectants, it is extremely hydrating which makes it ideal for any form of dry skin but not for oily skin conditions.

The SELEXIR Peace Balm is proven in its efficacy for dry skin issues and presents no side effects. It is suitable for all skin types, even for very sensitive skin, as it is free from parabens, paraffin, silicones, mineral oils, petroleum or synthetic dyes and fragrances. It is safe for the use in babies starting 3 months old.

UNSEEN FROM THE ARCHIVES – PHILLIP LIM – GIVENCHY – JOSEPH

pv.look.phillip.lim.givenchy

With warmer temperatures becoming apparent and the beautiful sun of the past couple of days, this look from last year while I was pregnant is the perfect ensemble to inspire the changes in your wardrobe now that the weather too is changing…

Throughout much of my pregnancy, I chose to keep layering to only a few looks as it made me feel even larger, but this tight top under a classic white shirt worked as I only closed the top button and the shirt fell with the lines of the lightweight mac. Keeping the silk trousers loose also made for a chic, but comfortable and light, pregnancy look.
