STEP 2WO – THE PERFECT BOYS SHOES (FOR A VERY PICKY MUMMY)

MC.shoes.

I am quite unsure why, but finding gorgeous shoes for little boys is near impossible. This week I was finally able to breathe an (enormous) sigh of relief due to discovering STEP 2WO shoes.

A shoe brand I cannot recommend highly enough for their durability and brilliant, brilliant design – I am, as you know by now, a very picky mummy and until now have been lost as to how to dress Astor’s gorgeous little feet. The answer to my problem has now been solved (for many many years to come…)

MINI A TURE – A BELOVED DANISH BRAND

mini.1

As Astor has grown, I have found fewer designers whose collections are keeping with the same beautiful tones and fabrics as the newborn-1 year old ranges. This is, thankfully, not the case with Mini A Ture, a brand I have loved since Astor’s birth and a brand he shall continue to wear for many years.

Their considered collections for all ages are the perfect mix of age appropriate, darling designs with both a classic and contemporary feel…

BROWNS BRIDE & DE BEERS COLLABORATE ON EXHIBITION OF DESIGNER BRIDALWEAR & JEWELS – OCT. 24TH UNTIL NOV. 15TH

-1

Browns Bride’s bridal designers Elizabeth Filmore, Johanna Johnson, Marchesa, Mira Zwillinger, Monique Lhuillier, Peter Langner and Vera Wang have collaborated with De Beers Diamond Jewellers to select one dress from each of their collections that most perfectly matches a particular De Beers design.

Browns Bride have, since their launch in 2004, been at the forefront of the designer bridal field. As with all Browns stores, the team behind Browns Bride select designers that create classic pieces, but that also have both a timeless and a contemporary feel to their collections.

This latest collaboration with De Beers is further proof that Browns are ahead of others in not only their vision, but their relationships with leading design houses.

Of course you will have to visit De Beers from the 24th October until the 15th November to truly experience the beauty and luxury of the dresses and jewels, but the descriptions of just how each designer has been paired with a selected De Beers creation are below…

-3

Elizabeth Filmore’s feminine and bohemian ‘Arabelle’ dress is perfectly matched with the architectural elegance of the De Beers Annabel engagement ring. The look is completed by De Beers’ diamond thread-pavé bangles and hoop earrings adding a modern touch.

With the grandeur of the 1920’s in mind, Johanna Johnson’s ‘Hero’ dress is made from her own exclusive vintage heavy silk satin and is entirely hand made and beaded. Each claw-set stone is laboriously sewn into the silk with yet more detail encrusted on the feature train. This bride’s perfect ring is undoubtedly one from the Talisman collection, representing the expert craftsmanship of De Beers with a unique blend of hand-selected rough and polished diamonds.

Marchesa’s ‘Georgina’ dress is an off the shoulder tulle gown with voluminous, ruched tiers, inspired by the exquisite couture styles of the 1950s. Recalling this era’s grand designs, the De Beers quintessential diamond classic collection is the perfect accompaniment for this bride with the DB Classic Trio ring.

At the heart of Mira Zwillinger’s designs is a technique that alters the DNA of the fabrics in order to create innovative new textures. Mira’s ‘Grace’ gown, featuring ornate hand embroidery and beading is enhanced by the De Beers Enchanted Lotus collection where the delicate diamond pavé motif is set in pink gold.

Embodying a dramatic combination of power and grace, the De Beers Adonis Rose collection captures the natural grace of Monique Lhuillier’s ‘Royalty’ dress, which exudes femininity and sophistication with a textured silk organza skirt and crystal embroidered bodice and sleeves.

Peter Langner’s ‘Purcell’ dress, handmade in Italy and combining only the most exclusive fabrics and the finest tailoring, is perfectly matched with the De Beers Aura collection adding a sophisticated and delicate statement.

Vera Wang’s Macy dress – an ivory v-neck sleeveless lace gown with hand-appliquéd Chantilly lace accents and a Guipure lace back – is paired with the De Beers Swan Lake Collection. A celebration of diamonds of character, the designs were inspired by prima ballerinas and like Vera Wang’s collection, strike the perfect balance between modernity and tradition.

CONDE NAST BRIDES THE SHOW – THIS WEEKEND

Yesterday evening I attended the VIP launch of Conde Nast’s ‘Brides The Show’ and to say I was overwhelmed by the caliber of designers in attendance would be an enormous understatement; Bobbi Brown, Phillippa Lepley, Laduree, Babington House of the Soho House Group, Mrs & Mrs Smith, to name but a few…

image(3)

With the extraordinarily talented Phillipa Lepley (who, as you very likely know, was on an exclusive shortlist to design Kate Middleton’s wedding dress). I love Phillipa’s dresses and having met her last night at the show, I can see why she is such a favourite amongst brides

image(2)

Wedding stationery is of course incredibly important and having viewed all of the options at the show yesterday, I can honestly say that Leeming Brothers, in my opinion, was the most exceptional quality and design of all the stationers. I spent a little time with co-founder Kit Harrison and apart from the fact that he was incredibly lovely, he gave me such detailed information regarding the process of creating the stationery that I then fully understood just why you should enlist such a company to create your wedding stationery – after all, this occasion will happen only once and to know such care has been given in the production of these most special invites means so much

Cake Maison were, for me, the most beautifully designed – and without question the best tasting – cakes at the show. My fiance and I sampled both the sponge with jam and cream and the chocolate cake and I was quite simply blown away by the flavours and texture of both options

image(5)

The dresses! This will certainly depend on your preference, more so than whether or not I can recommend which cakes were the most delicious. Such an important decision is so incredibly personal, but what I can say is that with the finest bridal designers exhibiting at Brides The Show, it would surely be impossible for a bride not to find her perfect dress this weekend

And of course Laduree! A firm favourite amongst so many, the displays at the show allowed me to see how beautiful Laduree’s bridal creations could be. I am sold…

THE WEDDING EDITOR HOSTS MONICA VINADER BRIDAL EVENT

Last night I hosted a beautiful bridal event at the Monica Vinader store in Mayfair. The guests, champagne and diamonds made for an exceptional evening and I couldn’t have been more thrilled…

Monica Vinader is a jeweller like no other; exquisitely crafted jewellery incorporating diamonds and striking stones, but without the frightening price tag.

In my opinion, there could be no more perfect a place to find exquisite wedding day jewellery, bridesmaid gifts in the form of engraved pendants and Ava bracelets and chic yet affordable accompaniments for every moment of your honeymoon.

Last night I attended the private relaunch event of the unreasonably beautiful Temperley London boutique in Notting Hill.

temperley.dresses

Temperley London’s designs have continued to evolve over the years and I can honestly say that Alice’s latest collections are simply the most divine to date – both ready-to-wear and of course her sought-after bridal dresses.

My passion with all things bridal is unrivalled as the countdown to my own wedding is very much in place with 5 months to go, so I shall be finding a day to take myself to the store and try as many of the beautiful bridal designs as my energy will allow…
