While in Australia working for two months this summer, Astor and I were asked to be photographed by one of Australia’s leading children’s photographers, Alexandrena Parker.

The images which I am so honoured to have been a part of became the cover and main story of the January 2015 issue of Smallish Magazine, which was published this month

CO-HOSTING THE LAUNCH OF ‘GLOBAL KIDS FASHION WEEK’ WITH PORTIA FREEMAN

Pippa.Portia.GKFW.Grace

This week saw the launch of the first ever Global Kids Fashion Week, a concept brought to life by the clever team at AlexandAlexa.com

With runway shows featuring the most beautiful children wearing exquisite designs from houses such as Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren and Kenzo, there was never any doubt that this was going to be an enormous success – success that was certainly helped in part by the overwhelming support from the British press.

The night before the VIP runway show – which was attended by celebrities and leading names in the fashion industry alike – my friend and fellow GKFW ambassador Portia Freeman and I hosted an intimate cocktail reception at the elegant women’s only members club, Grace Belgravia. My favourite juice cleanse company PLENISHCleanse were behind the evening’s cocktails, expertly mixed by The Cocktail Gardener.

Our event was not only to launch GKFW, but to open the online charity auction in aid of one of the most deserving charities in the UK, Kids Company.

Bella Freud, a friend of Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh and enormous supporter of the charity, gave a speech that touched all who attended that night; I only wish we had invited more guests, as to hear Bella’s magnificent, heartfelt speech made the evening so incredibly special.

The online charity auction is live, featuring many exclusive designer items WWW.GLOBALKIDSFASHIONWEEK.COM

Congratulations to all involved – and much love to the selfless, incredible team at Kids Company.

MATERNALLY BEACH AT PARESA RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND – DAY 5 – BASKING IN MISSONI

Thailand.Missoni.PV

Nearing the end of our stay in Paradise! Paresa resort in Phuket has been everything we could possibly have wished it would be…and more.

The Swede and I have discussed our return next January with 10 friends – the resort is perfect for a couples retreat (in our case, plus darling Astor!) and also a wonderful place to spend time with a group of your closest friends.

My only regret this trip was not booking more nights here. I was concerned that the heat and travel would be too much for my 5-month-old son, but he has been a dream and the staff at Paresa have ensured we have everything we need for him. On arrival, they had arranged for a cot to be in the room and when we realised we had forgotten the adapters for our Bugaboo (yes, we travelled with the chassis and chair and forgot the adapters!) the ‘angels’ at Paresa presented us with a choice of two strollers to hire (£20 in total for the 6 days, just incredible).

I could not recommend Paresa highly enough – nothing was too great an ask and everything about the resort was beyond what we had expected. I for one cannot wait to return next January…

MATERNALLY BEACH AT PARESA RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND – DAY 4 – INFINITY DINING EXPERIENCE

pv.look.melissa.

With one of Paresa’s wonderful staff babysitting Astor, the Swede and I headed to the resort’s striking infinity pool to experience their Infinity Dining Experience.

Three raised bed areas seating two are set within the shallow water overlooking the pool, candles are lit and the most competent of waiters ensure you are looked after with every care and detail you could possibly imagine.

Having chosen our four courses earlier in the day, as you are required to do so that the evening runs smoothly and dishes can be brought down from the restaurant without too great a waiting time between courses, the highlight (of possibly the past three years!) was Paresa’s take on surf and turf – an unreasonably generous serving of lobster cooked in several ways and the most tender beef I had experienced in as long as I could remember.

Champagne, music, candlelight and dining under the stars surrounded by water – there truly is nothing more a gal could ask for!

MATERNALLY BEACH AT PARESA RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND – DAY 3 – PRIVATE POOL VILLA

Thailand.0

Waking each morning to view a terrace with a private pool overlooking the ocean is a luxury I would be thrilled to enjoy for far longer than this trip will allow (work has taken hold, so my days in paradise are limited, sigh).

The standard pool of even the most heavenly of resorts is more often than not a pleasant size, but not one that you feel gives you real space to spend more than a short time in before needing to stretch your legs a little – this is not the case with Paresa.

Each suite or villa has its own sizable pool and many hours have been spent cooling off from the Thai sun, tearing ourselves away from a place we could only dream of spending more time in – perhaps it shall have to be a month here next winter? I shall suggest this to the Swede (who will no doubt refuse my proposal of moving to a suite at Paresa for the entire month of January, but a girl can ask!)

MATERNALLY BEACH AT PARESA RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND – DAY 2 – THE ULTIMATE MASSAGE EXPERIENCE

PV.Thailand.2013

When envisaging the ultimate massage experience, I had in mind an ocean-view location, the perfect complete body treatment with just the right pressure to relax me, but also to ease the knots that have set firmly in place due to lifting and carrying a healthy 5-month-old throughout the day. I wanted to know upon leaving that this could very likely have been the best massage I would ever have and this is exactly the massage that I experienced at the Paresa resort in Phuket.

With all rooms, including the spa and gym, facing the ocean, Paresa is everything you could hope for when needing to relax following the first months of new motherhood…

MATERNALLY BEACH AT PARESA RESORT, PHUKET, THAILAND – DAY 1

Paresa.1

There is working hard and then there is having a new baby; nothing could have prepared me for the exhaustion that was to ensue following the arrival of my son and so when deciding it was time to escape the big freeze in London, I was taking no chances with wherever I was to spend my first holiday in almost a year.

Recommendations from friends and industry contacts filled my inbox with endless images of beaches and spas – Paresa resort in Thailand made the cut, flights were booked and with Talitha Getty in mind, resort collections from Missoni, Berardi and Gucci were packed.

Met by Paresa ‘angels’ (you are assigned an angel on arrival and that they certainly are, nothing is too great an ask) and taken through the striking entrance to an awaiting car that winds its way down the paths to your private pool villa overlooking the ocean; the smooth journey from airport to suite was nothing short of perfect.

I noted the Stephane Pompougnac tracks (he of Hotel Costes fame) playing in both reception and our suite and knew I would feel quite at home here – yes, it’s great to discover new culture and music, but along with the knowing staff and luxurious surroundings, I could also indulge in both my favoured European and Thai influences when it suited.

We stayed in an Aqua Suite, which excelled in interior design and breathtaking views (all accommodation is ocean-facing), but apparently this was nothing compared to their Cielo Residence or Grand Villa; if this was mid-level luxury, then I would have had to be forcibly removed from anything grander.

With a deep bath overlooking our private infinity pool and the swiftest room service I had ever experienced, there was no real reason to leave the spacious suite, but with such a relaxed feel to the resort, it was a mellow transition from suite to infinity pool (with Veuve Cliquot bar and in-pool raised bed areas) to the restaurant, which served the most incredible authentic Thai or Italian offerings from the clever New Zealand chef brought on board by the NZ husband and wife team that run Paresa.

This trip was, after all, designed for pure relaxation and if lounge jazz, exquisite food, faultless spa treatments (coming from a pampered Londoner, this speaks volumes!) and striking views are on the agenda, then this ‘Millionaire’s Mile’ location in Phuket checks every box.

MY HARPER’S BAZAAR FITNESS POST – FEATURING ‘WORK OUT LIFE’ FITNESS APPAREL

This blog post can also be found along with others in the series on www.harpersbazaar.co.uk/blogs/

With all that new motherhood has in store for me, the trick is to inject a little humour with each pressing scenario, otherwise there is no doubt a breakdown of some description would make itself very known.

Training with postpartum specialist Tim Weeks has been something I was determined to stick with on a weekly basis. Without a nanny and relying on an occasional babysitter, the living room of my home becomes my workout studio once a week. With Astor looking on, I am guided through the stages that will ensure my core returns to it’s former strength, thus allowing me to return to the almost daily running sessions I so miss.

With Tim’s arrival this week, the babysitter was nowhere to be found (suspected late night debauchery), but with steely determination to press ahead, I donned my latest Work Out Life fitness attire and set about lunging with Tim’s encouraging words as my soundtrack. Astor was having none of this.

Lunging with an inane grin on my face while waving my hands like a borderline maniac did nothing to appease the small fellow, so Tim jumped in, scooped him up and we saw my training session recommence. Now, I have many great things to say about Tim Weeks as a professional, a former athlete and a women’s specialist, but this just took him to a whole new level.

Sleep deprivation, items that are scattered in every room except for the one they are intended for and a tiny person that requires all of your attention during their every waking moment means that it is certainly a challenge to find the time to work out when you are a new mother, but you need time for you, so finding the right trainer will ensure you are educated, trained and are left feeling as though you are getting closer to returning to your former self – just with a very welcome small companion by your side.

This week while training I have been wearing the beautifully designed fitness range by Work Out Life, an evolution of high fashion meets sports/active wear www.workoutlife.com
