WEDDING DRESS – TEMPERLEY BRIDAL

WeddingDressTemperley

Throughout the coming months I shall be uploading images of dresses that I have tried and loved from the most beautiful bridal collections. This image of me in a Temperley Bridal dress was shot at the end of last year. I had tried on over 20 exquisite dresses in the private, elegant bridal showroom at the Conduit Street store – needless to say I was utterly exhausted

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON – BRIDAL JACKETS

MatthewWIlliamsonBridalJkt

If you are looking for a luxurious, perfectly tailored bridal jacket with exquisite detailing, then Matthew Williamson is your answer.

While in the bright, beautifully designed store on Bruton Street in London this week, I tried these two absolutely beautiful jackets

I wasn’t planning on wearing anything over my dress due to the striking back, but as I am getting married in March, should it be necessary, then I have surely found the perfect addition

JOHANNA JOHNSON BRIDAL HEADPIECE

wedding.headpiece

Upon first sighting this divine Johanna Johnson headpiece in Browns Bride, I was quite unsure that I would feel comfortable wearing such a statement piece on my head, particularly with the actual wedding ceremony in mind.

Once trying this exquisite creation by the wonderful Johanna, I immediately fell in love with not only how it looked, but also how it made me feel; I felt far more refined than expected and there’s a certain something about everything Johanna creates that just makes you feel like an entirely enhanced, more exceptional you.

MONICA VINADER #JOYOFGIFTING

image[1]

Monica Vinader has a way of making every experience interesting, beautiful and inspired. I have long been a fan of her unique jewellery – which has something of a cult following, particularly the wildly popular Fiji Bracelets – and each season will treat myself to something wonderful from her collections

For the festive period, Monica has once again involved all who wear the chic creations by bringing us together with her hashtag #joyofgifting

On Twitter and Instagram, I have been viewing those who have tagged images with #joyofgifting to see what divine choices others are making; it often gives me inspiration for just how I will wear certain pieces when placed together, or which designs would be perfect as gifts for friends and family this Christmas

SEASONAL SAMPLE SALES – PERFECT FOR WEDDING PURCHASES

Kirkwood

If you’re not adverse to wearing past season collections, or indeed wearing ex-sample pieces (most of which are in near-perfect condition), then the seasonal samples sales are quite brilliant for saving pots of cash on designer looks

As brides are not so focused on what is past season/current season (unless your wedding will be featured in Vogue of course, then next season is where you will be looking for everything that is not yet available to anybody else but you), it’s entirely possible to find the perfect pieces for your wedding day; be it shoes, jewellery or indeed your actual dress

This morning I found myself at the Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale, where I spied the above shoes which could work perfectly for brides. Prices for the above shoes ranged from £50-£180, so certainly worth visiting the sale today or tomorrow (details on the Music Rooms site below)

SOMETHING BORROWED – AND A VERY INSPIRED WAY TO WEAR IT

bracelet.hand

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the inspired way in which a friend placed her grandmothers bracelet across her hand. As her ‘something borrowed’, said friend wanted to wear this exquisite bracelet, but felt the classic design wasn’t in keeping with her contemporary look on her wedding day.

Across her hand, the bracelet perfectly complimented the Givenchy couture dress she chose as a very modern interpretation of the classic design that her mother had worn on her wedding day 30 years before.

BAMFORD HAYBARN WELLNESS RETREAT – DAYLESFORD FARM

bam7

If you fail to slip into a dreamy state of consciousness upon entering the tranquil Bamford Haybarn wellness retreat at Daylesford Farm in Gloucestershire, then your mind needs a little calming (which thankfully happens very easily here)

bam.11
For one who is used to the ultimate in 5 star experiences, I anticipated a rural feel to a beautiful space, something of a vacation encounter with me wanting to up the pace and intensity of treatments (something of a personally irritating trait of mine, I wish I could just sit still for longer – not to be confused with ADHD, simply a very busy working mummy), but instead I found a spa that easily rivals the most highly regarded spaces in London

I am unsure if it’s the heavenly countryside surroundings or the organic, calm, peaceful environment that Lady Bamford brought to this luxurious and perfectly understated haven over 20 years ago, but I cannot remember a time when I have felt more relaxed

Relaxing isn’t something I allow myself to do; a personal mission if you will, I have set myself a goal to achieve many things before I turn 40 (thankfully I have 5 years, but my list is rather long) and my mind is constantly churning over new ideas or considering deadlines for projects I am already involved with

At Bamford Haybarn, something happened; I switched off, relaxed, enjoyed being pampered, enjoyed the considered and delicious organic food in the restaurant, which is frequented by spa clients and Farm visitors alike. I even surprised myself by participating in yoga (I am an intense spinner, not a peaceful yogi) with a tutor I shall credit for changing my entire opinion of yoga forever – Christina, with her low, melodic voice took me through an hour of almost meditative yoga in the serene studio space. It was a revelation, how had I convinced myself that yoga truly wasn’t for me? I am positively hooked

Obviously I couldn’t resist bringing many Bamford candles home also – this ‘Moss’ candle is a firm favourite in our house, placed lovingly aside Nils’s treasured Davidoff humidor

And then there are the Bamford products, many of which I now cannot live without. Not only has the natural, organic and beautifully scented range made a very noticeable difference to my skin and hair (trust me, you simply must experience the shampoo and conditioner – perfect for every hair type) but knowing they are made from a level of pure ingredients that have been certified at the highest grade makes you feel even more wonderful about using them on your body.

I have a hen weekend to consider and since visiting the Bamford Haybarn, all other options have been pushed firmly beneath this serene and soothing sanctuary – now the only matter of concern is whether my dearest friends will be disappointed to hear we are no longer heading for a heady week in New York, or the beach destination that was causing excitement? Once they arrive at Bamford, I am quite convinced the alternative options will not even be a consideration.

THE HERBALL – DISCOVERED AT THE JIMMY CHOO PRESS DAY (OF COURSE)

IMG_6257

As my friends are rather into them, choosing the right cocktails for my wedding day is without doubt going to be an extremely considered affair. Kettle One, Hendricks or Patron Silver, getting the finer details right is certainly going to be something I will need to spend time working on with the mixoligists I choose.

The cocktail creator I do know I would love to have at my wedding is the brilliant mind behind THE HERBALL, a company that was serving exceptional cocktails, disguised as incredibly healthy drinks, at a recent Jimmy Choo press day.

Mixed by botanists with herbs, plants, infusions and bitters, the bite of booze was barely noticeable in the delicious and extremely handsome looking cocktails; something hugely appealing to me as over-powering alcohol concoctions are not my thing at all.

A particularly striking added touch was a large green ‘energy’ crystal that was placed in the centre of the traditional shaped martini glasses; I am quite unsure if I was any more energized than before drinking my nutritious cocktail (is that an oxymoron?), but it certainly looked very nice.

WISHING TO WEAR A SHORTER STYLE WEDDING DRESS?…

…then you could consider this divine Dolce & Gabbana creation, made from the finest lace imaginable.

DolcePV.whitedress

I wore this dress to a number of events last night, including the Claridges Dolce & Gabbana Christmas Tree event and the fun and fabulous Sunday Times Style party at Annabel’s (the festive season is certainly upon us!) and felt entirely bridal all evening – which of course was a very good thing.
