Sighs of disappointment came from so many when it was announced that D&G Junior would be closing along with the adult D&G line, but the newly launched Dolce&Gabbana mainline children’s collection from the ever-inspired pairing proves that it was the right decision.
The focus of this new children’s collection is based purely on the highest level of tailoring that is so evident in the already greatly coveted Dolce & Gabbana mainline adult collection. Dominico and Stefano are designers who refuse to launch any collection without great thought, attention to detail and sourcing of only the finest fabrics for each garment and this is wildly evident in this chic collection for 0-10 year olds.
As much as the collection is highly luxurious, practicality was still a priority, which for any parent is an important factor. Messrs Dolce & Gabbana said of their new line “We interviewed all the mothers because the collection must be practical. We learned a lot, plenty of details. For example, it’s better to have sleeveless onesies and freedom of movement – kids don’t want to feel too constricted. The line is conceived as a further expansion of the Dolce & Gabbana world, this is an homage to Italy and to our tradition. It’s part of our culture and marks one of the most important moments in our lives.” It shows.
Being a fashion editor for the past 10 years, I am not blinded by pure aesthetics and can honestly say that this is one collection that can, without any doubt, be passed down for generations due to the level of craftsmanship of each piece.
The Dolce & Gabbana mainline children’s collection launches this month.
